the hand-holding at the end of the episode meant everything. it was like a silent promise, lisbon was telling jane she was still there without words.

the fact that jane ignored lisbon’s question when she asked him what he meant when he said “i love you” wasn’t jane being a jerk or playing his mind games once again, it was jane telling lisbon “just wait, not now, too many things are happening at the moment and i want us to take our time”. they have waited for years to admit their feelings to each other, and now that they both know, they want to take it slow - and the hand-holding plus the little things jane said when he was on the bike - “how romantic” - just proves that they will take that next step. because they both realised that life can go faster than it comes, and it’s way too short to be secretive about feelings such as love. it will just take a little while, because their lives are so hectic at the moment, but they know they eventually had to come clean about this thing between them.

and this was their was of coming clean, because they are jane and lisbon and things have never been easy for none of them.
